The second singles competition of .the Rakaia 1 Bowling Club was completed yesterday,, and some interesting games were provided. Unfortunately Mr li. Newman, who had qualified for the semi-final, was unable to play owing to illness. "' _, -o- ' In the first round C. Ross beat Hay-, dock. 22-18; Blackley beat Feather* stone. 17-16; J. Smith won by default, and E. Fox drew a bye. ■■ . . Tn the next round Ross beat femitn, 18-14. and Fox beat Blackley, 22-12. In the final game between Ross and Fox. both players were evidently feeling the effects of the strain, as the-heads, were mostly , poor. At the seventh head the scores stood at 4 all, at, tne fourteenth head Ross 19. Fox 4, the final scores being: Ross 24, Fox. 11. Ross has thus won both singles competitions played this year.
