There was a good attendance at- the meeting of householders last evening. Mr D. Duff was .voted to the chair. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £20/ "Mr Duff read a comprehensive report on the school for the past year. He referred in complimentary terms to the good work by the teachers. Special praise he said was due to the Headmaster (Mr C. H. Withell) for the great interest he had shown in the school garden work, and for the sue-' cess he had obtained at the Ashburton Show, and for the results obtained by the Sixth Standard. A hearty and unanimous vote of thanks was passed to the staff, to which the Headmaster suitably responded. It was also decided that a letter of appreciation and confidence in her as^a teacher be sent to Miss Patrick, the assistant mistress of the school. Tlie following names were balloted to form the new committee:—Messrs J>. Duff, O. 0. Sewell, C. ScweH. C. Whiting, L. Frost, F. McKeown, Rev. J. .Johnston, J. Ellery, A. Mactier, G. H. Sewell, and F. Wills. The new committee elected were:— Messrs D. Duff, D. O. Sewell, J. Ellery, A. Mactier. and C. Whiting. Mr Duff was subsequently re-elected chairman.
