WELLINGTON, April 14
There is a possibility of a crisis occurring in connection with the Amalgamated .Society of Railway Servants over the schedules of wages and working conditions which have been considered by the branches. In view" of the number of hostile resolutions passed by.the branches the society's executive has been summoned to a special meeting to-day to consider the position; DUNEDIN, April 14.
The Otaeo branch of the A.S.R.S. resolved that it considers the proposed schedule of wages totally inadequate, in view of the fact that the sovereign nossesses but three-fifths of its former purchasing, power, and is strongly adverso to the proposals submitted by the executive. If the present bonus is converted into wages, the deduction due to superannuation will'mean a reduction in the monthly wage. The men urge a special conference to deal with the matter.
AUCKLAND, April 14
A meeting of the Auckland branch of the A.S.R.S. passed a resolution against the adoption of the wages and conditions submitted by the Minister, expressing the opinion that the present general secretary and executive councillor^ should resign, giving members an opportunity to elect officers more in touch with the feeling of members throughout the Dominion. •
