A DAMAGED CARGO.

(Per Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, April 10

Mr Widdowson, S.M., gave judgment to-day hi a case in which Messrs Scoular and Co. sued the Onion Steam Ship Company for £22 odd for injury done to a portion •of a cargo of lentils consigned to the plaintiffs on the Waihora from Calcutta. '

The Magistrate said that the evidence clearly proved that the damage was caused by sweating, and it had not been shown that the ship owners in all the circumstances had not taken reasonable and pi-oper precautions regarding stowage. Judgment was accordingly entered for the defendants.
