Icons, sacred image of the Russian Church, are subject to tax under the Soviet government. Why Six Cylinders. In the early days of motoring one cylinder cars were the vogue. Then twin cylinders were adopted, but held only a short reign. The four-cylinder engine held the market for several years., but it has been entirely dropped this year by a majority of the American makers in favour of the six-cylinder engine. The extreme flexibility of-the 6ix has to be experienced io be appreciated. The Oakland Six is a small bore long stroke high-speed engine, developing 40-h.p. at 2500 revolutions per minute. Aluminium pistons reduce vibration to the minimum, and add to the flexibility. The reasonable weight (19cwt.) of the Oakland accounts for its sturdiness and economy on tyres and petrol. The New Oakland will be exhibited at the Ashburton and Methvon Shows. Catalogues may be obtained from G. H. Carson, the District Agent. 12
