WELLINGTON, March 29. The new pay allowances of the New Zealand Defence Forces, announced today, involve substantial increases for officers of all arms of the service, thus placing New Zealand officers on a more equal footing with those serving in other Empire forces. The new rates of, pay for the Expeditionary Force abroad and for: home service take effect as from April 1, 1918. Former camp and field allowances are reduced, the notable feature being that all officers are placed in a position of equality in this respect. :
