SCHOOL BURNT

OPUNAKE, January 31.

The pubic school was burnt to the ground at 1 o'clock this, morning. When discovered the building' was wefl alight, and there was no possibility of saving it. The school was about 40 years old, and had beon \ised as a temporary hospital during the epidemic, but as it had' been unoccupied for about three weeks the fire appears to be the work of an incendiary. A shed: in which the school furniture and books are stored was not damaged.
