STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT. NEW~YORK, Jan. 29. The United Press correspondent at i Berno interviewed Soitz;, President of
the Austrian Republic, who declared "The Entente thinks Austria to-day is merely the old empire. This is not true. Austria revolted from the old empire. Neither the Czecho-Slovaks nor we wish to join Germany. The food situation in Vienna is frightful."
