SYDNEY, August 2. • In spiie of stirring appeals at the opening of this recruiting campaign, the numbers oiioi'iiig afc the week-end were disappointing. In tho touriiii of a. recruiting speech; Mr Hoiman tadd:—"Those who hesitate tc-Jay to don the uniform oi' the King may bo compelled to wear the uniform of the Kaiser."

The meeting passed tho following resolution: "The-time has arrived when every fit man of military age, without encumbrances or family ties, and not directly engaged in the production of warlike supplier, should enlist." Recruiting sermons were preached in I the churches.
