■ The . fortnightly; 'meeting '■'■ of the Star of. Ashburtoh Lodge'of-Pruids vivas'held last evening. There was a. good, attendance of members, A.D.vßro. Jones presiding. An appeal from a North Island lodge for financial help for a brother in distress was met by a vote from the incidental fund. The visiting bards reported on a small sick list, and pay due was passed. A considerable quantity' of correspondence was. dealt with. Three candidates were initiated into tho Order, and one proposed for membership. • •
I The lodge then adjourned, and the members of the Hakatere Lodge "of Oddfellows were admitted and .welcomed by the A.D., Bro. Jones. A well-contested euchre match was held between the members of the two lodges, nnd resulted in favour" of the visitors by 54 points. Supper was dispensed by the ;Druids, and a very pleasant hour was spent. The toasts of. the winners nnd losers were very heartily responded to, and songs were contributed by members of. both lodges. ,
