A PROTEST.

AGAINST CHANGE OF EDUCATION DISTRICTS.

HIGH SCHOOL BOARD'S RESOLUTION.

At the meeting of the High School Board this morning, the chairman (Mr J. Tucker) moved, "That this Board desires to enter its strong protest against being put into the South Canterbury 'Education' district,, as the North Canterbury Ed ucation district,, by statute, appoints two members to the Board. The Hoard considers the boundaries should be left as at present."

Mr C. Reid said he would second,the motion. Bo not-only protested against this matter, hnt nlso s^ainst the whole Education Aoty which, he considered, was no better than it had been before. He favoured the system of local government. All. the Hoard's interests, he thought, were with the North Canterbury district.

Mr W. R. Denshire said ho was thoroughly in accord with the resolution. He was sorry Mr W. IT. Collins was not here to explain it further. Mr R. GaJbraith also spoke in favour of the resolution. He had seen Mr Collins's arguments'in the newspaper, and they appeared to him to be right and sound.

The motion was Ihen carried unanimously.
