LONDON, March 10
Mrs Fankhurst was captured at. Glasgow, ivhen attempting to escape, and bundled into a motor-car. Hundreds of women attempted to rescue her but mounted police rushed the crowd, and Mrs Pankhurst was lodged in the police' station.
Meanwhile the fight continued in the hall. A dozen women on the platform produced st^out truncheons, and stood behind a barbed wire fence concealedby flowers. They hurled flower-pots aiid chairs, ( arid poured' pails' of water on the police attempting to scale" the four-foot platform.' The police used their batons' • freely. Many women fainted.
Later a crowd attempted to storm the police station, but several hundred constables repulsed them.
