DUNEDIN, March 3. At to-day's sitting of the Methodist Church Conference hearty thanks woro tendered to' the Rev. S: La wry, expresident, for his charge to the\candidates for ordination delivered the previous evening. _ • ■ ■ Congratulations were tendered to the Revs. William Lee and J. S. Rishworth on the attainment of their ministerial jubilee. '■■
The report of the Church Building 'and Loan Fund was received. It emphasised the need for increased capital. The capital account': stands at £10,209. \ The committee on. circuits presented (some, additional findings,' , i It was ,resolved that the Auckland and South Aiickland districts hold their synods at different dates, to enable the Maori Mission; Superint-endent to attend their respective stations; The order in which ■.circuits' are to fulfil their obligation to' take married ministers was fixed as follows: —Taihape, luvercargill (Lee Street), Timaru (Bank Street), Ma'naia, Dunedin (Dundas Street), and Pneroa. DUNEDIN, March 4. r The transfer of the Rev. P. N. Knight from .'the iViVtorian Conference was approved, and the transfer of the Kov. _J. W. Burton to Victoria was sanctioned; this exchange to be reviewed _at the end of three years/ Considerable time was dovotod to a discussion of the question of constituting the Durham Street Circuit as a city mission. The proposal was negatived by a large majority. The first reading, of stations was pre- ■ sented, and will be considered at the afternoon session.
