The weather in Ashburton to-day was again beautifully fine. In some parts of the County on Thursday morning a thin coating of ice was noticeable on still water. The extreme cold of Wednesday night, it is feared, will prevent many of the ,late tomato crops from ripening. The. Meteorologist's forecast' 1 to-day, is as follows —The indicationsl >■ are -for. southerly winds, strong to ' gale at times; Expect changeable arid showery weather. The night probably will be very cold. Barometer rising.
