George John Burbury, a recent arrival from Home, was arrested at Aratapu yesterday on a charge _of theft of a gold watch and two chains, value £15 15s, from the Central Hotel; also a portmanteau belonging to another boarder. The chains were sold with the portmanteau to different people, and the watch was hidden on the railway line at Kaihnu, at which place he made for after the theft. lie walked 30 miles over the guirifields-to Aratapu, where lie was arrested. Most of the property has been recovered.
