DECLARED TO BE USELESS. (Received February 14, 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, February 14. Hawker, the aviator, states that the aeroplanes imported by the Defence Department are practically useless for defence purposes on Australia's long coast-line; it needed hydroplanes or hydro-aeroplanes, not landplanes. Australia's machines were already four models old.
