(Received February 12, ; 12.40 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 11, Captain Berry, of the steamer Nantucket, has been placed on trial charged with negligent navigation, thereby causing the loss of the steamer Monroe. He pleaded not guilty to the charge, and declares he did not reduce the engine's speed until one minute before the collision.
