HAWERA, February 10. The Australian cricketers commenced a match against Taranaki to-day.

The game was resumed in perfect weather at 11.30. Noble and Dolling resumed to tlie bowling of Blamires and Dunlop. In Blamires's second over. . Noble returned a soft one to him. Seven wickets for 212 runs. Arm- - strong filled the vacancy, and. at once began to hit. The fielding was' good, boundaries being often saved. Shortly after. Dolling put up in the slips, Blamires bringing off a magnificent catch. Eight for 228. Waddy was the next batsman, and runs came' freely. . He scored well all round the wicket, getting boundaries in quick succession, but when he was 28 Ongley clean bowled him. Nine for 265. Waddy j now played a vigorous innings, laying |on the wood with plenty of power. |Ransford, the last man, did not appear comfortable, and was caught by Blamires, with one hand, in the slips,, the innings closing for 271.
