AN IMPORTANT STATEMENT.
LONDON, February 10.
At Senghengdd inquiry, Thornton, a miner, gave evidence that accumulations of gas were known to the overman and a fireman who perished in the disaster. There was a general instruction to brush out the gas. The Commissioner said that if Thornton's evidence was reliable it disclosed very serious conditions. ■.
