The railways established records in all branches during 1913. The number of passengers increased by 5,000,000, freight by 17,548,000 tons, employees by 22,751, while 12,398 miles of new tracks are under construction. The gross earnings per train per mile was 8701d01., compared with 6387 dol. in 1908.
