AN INNUENDO DENIED.

WELLINGTON, November 26,
In the House of Representatives this afternoon, Sir Joseph Ward drew attention to an item appearing in the "Lyttelton Times," which attributed a statement to Mr David Jones (the Reform' Party's Organiser) to the effect that he, at a meeting of the Christchurch Women's Political Reform League, stated that, since coming into office, the present Government had discovered things about Sir Joseph Ward which they would not like to repeat. Sir Joseph Ward asked the Prime Minister, as head of the Government, if he knew whether the substance oi the statement was true ?
Mr Massey replied that he could not imagine Mr Jones saying anything of the kind. He had wired to him on the matter and would-: communicate with Sir Joseph Ward immediately he received a reply. Sir Joseph Ward: "Dp you know of anything .to warrant such a statement ??'
Mr Massey: "I do not,"
