Lord Hardinge, replying- to an address, declared that the admissions in the official denial of;the ill-treatment of Indians wero such' that '-'if the "South African Government desired to justify itself in the eyes of India and the world it had no alternative b\it to grant a searching fommission of enquiry, on which Indian interests were represented.
