LYTTELTON, November 20. The first vessel to start co unload with Arbitration vuiion labour was the Kimutaka, at No. (i wliari. Snortly after. 10 a.m. a number of Arbitration"ists 'stepped'aboard, and witii tiie assistance of tlie crew were quickly at work on two hatches, railway permanent men loading the trucks. Among the Arbitrationists were two ' expert wincuinen. Tlie new watertr.ders showed a marked aptitude -for their work, and required' very little coaching. The llimutaka's crew worked on amicable terms with the Arbitrationists. So well did the men get into their stride that before very long the head "stevedore for the New Zealand Shipping Company had- two more hatches working? more Arbitrationists being put on. . ■" Cargo was also being transhipped from the Morning Light and from the Dorset, which is being unloaded by her own crew, assisted by railway permanents in the trucks. The Breeze will probably leave for Wellington to-night with a locomotive she -shipping. It is expected that the Corinthic will arrive at Lyttelton on Thursday to put out the balance of her cargo from London. All periodicals on the same vessel will be brought to Lyttelton to-morrow by the Pateena. There were. 80 men in the new Waterside Workers' Union when operations commenced this morning, and during the day several further applications for membership were received. This afternoon nearly all the ships m the harbour were discharging cargo. | The Union Steam Ship Company's Kmi began discharging timber, permanent hands working aboard. The Westport ,Cbal Company's s.s. Canopus, timber laden, the s.s. Opouri, and several j schooners were also discharging.^ Everything was quiet throughout the afternoon.
