In opening the Victoria Park Playground, at Sydney recently, the Minister of Education (Mr Carmichael) said that lie hoped it was merely a forerunner of children's playgrounds in every park around Sydney. The 128 schools within 10 miles of the General Post Office had an aggregate of not! more than 200 acres of playing space. and the public parks in the same area round the city comprised 4350 acres. In America these areas would be largely used as playing spaces; in Sydney they were regarded either as ornaments to the city or as spaces to be kept free from buildings. He was quite sure that all who had been associated with the movement would join in wishing the young owners of the playground many long and happy days of health-giving play. ,
