AT CHRISTCHURCH. THE DESCENT ON THE PORT.
EFFECTED WITHOUT INCIDENT.
CHRISTCHTJRCH, November 25 11.20 a.m
Christchurch awoke to learn from the morning papers that the move upon Lyttelton had begun. Public interest was not keen, there being few people outside the military circle controlling the specials and the free labour.
It was believed at Lyttelton that tho strikers had planned violence, but later news states that the entry to the port was entirely peaceable, and caused no surprise. The town generally is quiet. The carters and drivers are meeting.
A number of specials are still at Addington. It is intended to uso them in the city if tho carters remain out.
