STATEMENT BY UNION COMPANY. NO TROUBLE WITH STEWARDS.
(Per Press Association—Copyright)
SYDNEY, November 24,
The Union Steam Ship Company denies the reported trouble with stewards regarding the supply of food to those engaged in discharging vessels. It also denies that the Maheno is anchored in the stream in order to prevent the crew landing. It states that the men are at liberty to leave if they desire, but they want to stop aboard. The company hopes to get the Maheno away on Wednesday with the Manuka's mails and passengers. A meeting of the Seamen's Union tonight endorsed the previous resolution not to re-engage on Union Company's steamers till the trouble has been settled. ,
