1.41 p.m. Squads of specials patrol the streets at the port, being continually on the move, but there was no sign of excitement up to noon.
Mr Lurch, President of the Waterside Workers' Union, says the men are taking the position calmly. The ambulance .brigade reports tha-. there have not been any cases, not even accidents.
The hotels were closed simultaneously with the arrival of the specials. The camp for horsemen has not been fixed yet; there are temporary horselines outside the Union Steam Ship Company's office. The, specials are dining at the Coronation Hall, and the footmen will sleep in the Harbour Board's shed.
