ARTILLERY COMPANIES.
ANNUAL REPORT.
WELLINGTON, September 30, Captain Richardson, Chief Instructor of Artillery, m his annual report, states that m nearly every company there has been an improvement, both m shooting and generl efficiency. Ten out of twelve companies qualified as first-class, 1 and there has been a gradual improvement, until it would seem that it was impossible to get better results from volunteers .than were now recorded. The order of merit is marked out as follows: Eight-inch breechloading guns—No. 2 Company, Canterbury, 1; No. 2 Company, Auckland, 2;' No. 1 Company, Wellington, 3. SijEinch' bfeech-luuiiing guns—-No. 3 Company;, Auckland, 1; No. 1 Company, Wellington, 2; No. .1 Company, Otago, 3 M Light quick-firing guns—No. 1 "Goimpany^Auckland,. 1; ■ No". 3 'Company, Auckland, 2; No. 2 Company, Auckland,^.'
