William Stevenson Aiofeen, sharebroker, for sending a letter threatening the life of the Premier, was convicted. Mr Justice Edwards ordered the accused to come up for sentence if called on, also to enter into a bond of £1000 and two sureties of £500, to keep the peace for three years and not to co beyond twenty miles of Auckland. The prisoner's counsel stated that it had come to his knowledge that the Premier had no objection to the prisoner being allowed his liberty. . The Judge said that the responsibility was on his shoulders to safeguard the Premier On a former occasion he sentenced a man to three years for threatening the Premier. In that case Sir Joseph Ward interfered, and the man was liberated. DmfßDiN, Nov 19 Judge Cooper, in addressing the grand inry, dealt at length with the Haynes case. The jury suggested the reduction of the case from murder to manslaughter, which was done. ■ " __
