Presentations at Dromore.
On Friday evening laßt in the Dromore Schoolroom a welooma home social was tendered to Mr and Mr E. Campbell, jnnr, and Mr and Mrs T. Chalmers.
In welcoming the newly married couples, Mr W. C. Smith, who presided, emphasised the sincere goodwill of all present, and wished them all happiness and prosperity in their.futnre lives.
After a short but appropriate musical programme, Mr J. Allen presented Mr and Mrs Campbell with a hanging lamp; and spoke of his long years of acquaintance with the former, and of Mrs Campbeltfs popularity and success as mistress in the local school last year. Mr W. J. Elliott then presented Mr and Mrs Chalmers with a clock, and the former with a pipe from his bachelor friends, as a token of his popularity, point ing out that Mr Chalmers was settling at Fairton only through force of oircumatances—no house being obtainable in Dromore. Songs were contributed during the evening by Messrs Hanrahan, Smith, Elliott, and Chalmers ; an address—humourous and good—by Mr Blair, of Ashburton 5 reoitations by Miss M. Allen, Misa L. Smith"; and Mr S. Allen j an exhibition of club swinging by Irene and Lilian Smith, and an interesting little performance by the sohopl girls. The ladies of the district, as is usnal on such occasions, provided an abundance of excellent refreshments, and the large gathering parted with cheers for the guests of the evening.
