A company of Cossacks at Z^iarg, near Lodz, refused to eat their dinner, owing to the badness of the food. They pent a soldier named Ali Ith-izanow to demand double rations and better food, and arrears of pay. '< he captain shot the delegate dead with hia revolver. The Cossacks persisting in their demands, a body of infantry surrounded, bound, and imprisoned the rebels.
