It is stated that a number of prominent citizens in Ohristchurch have been the subjects of blackmailers' attention, and some in order to prevent even the shadow of a scandal have become victims,
Darracq and De Dion Motor Cabs.— We are informed that Messis A. Darracq et Cie and De Dion Bouton, Limited, have appointed the G. H. Carson Cycle and Motor Works as agents for the district extending between the Eakaia and Rsngitata Rivers; and also that they will guarantee their care for 12 months from date of delivery, but that all cars, engines, or gear boxes must bear the faotory number. If these nnmbers have been erased no claims will be allowed. The penalty imposed on authorised agents for erasing numbers and supplying cars to buyers outside their own districts is that all supplies will be stopped.
