At its sitting last night the Farmers' Union Conference amended the rule relating to subscriptions so as to permit branches to adopt a graduated scale.

The third day's sitting began thi3 morning. It was resolved " that any alteration in the franchise for the election of local bodies be strenuously opposed." There was a lengthy debate on the subject, and the speakers did not mince their worda in condemning the "unwarrantable demand" of those who sought to enlarge the county franchise.
