• The Inter-State Labour Conference adopted as its objective the cultivation of Australian eentiment based upon racial purity and the development of an enlightened, self-reliant community, tbe securing of the full results of their industry to all producers by collective ownership of mono-polies,-and the extension of tbe industrial and economic functions of the State and municipalities. , i There was a long debate on tbe motion that all candidates in the Labour interests Bhould be pledged to new protection. Finally it was resolved that after the report of the Tariff Commission had been submitted a referendum of electors should be taken on tb« tariff question and that members of the Federal Labour party should give legislative effect to the majority vote. Received July 12, 9.46 a.m. Melbourne, July IS The Labour Conference adopted resolutions that in the event of the Labour Party obtaining fche Ministerial benches, the Sour Ministry should be recommended by the party in caucus, and also recommending extending tbe sugar bonns and the insertion of a clause in the Navigation Bill compelling shipowners to insure tne lires of their crews.
