At the Angl'can Diocesan Synod a resolution was carried rt-cognising the great amount of evil resulting from the licensed sale of alcoholic beverages, and expressing hearty sympathy with the efforts now being made to remedy the evil. An amendment; substituting the words " immediate use " for "licensed ea!e'? found four clergymen as supporters, but the resolution, nfter a warm debate, was carried practically unanimously, the " noes " beirjg silent. A proposal to place it on record that it was carried unanimously was rot proceeded with, as the four clergymen objected that they were opposed to the motion in its accepted form.
