RUGBY UNION ACCIDENT FUND.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —I note per your report of the Rugby Union meeting, appearing in yesterday's paper, that the' Union have at last decided to iuaugurate an Accident Fund. I can fully appreciate the difficulty of financing such a Fund in a district like Ashburton, where the number of Football Clubs is very limited, and to my mind the Union have taken the only course open to them—that is, by deciding to appeal to the public for assistance ; therefore I trust that when the hat is passed round, the Union will receive the hearty support of a generous public in their endeavour to supply a long-felt want, —I am, etc, Bob Tanner.
