ASHBURTON COUNTY RUGBY UNION
Tho Ashburton County Rugby Union held their weekly meeting last evening. ['resent—Messrs, Gr. H. Buchanan (chairman), F. Bobilliard, A. J. Tyrrell-Baxter, l\T. J. Lynskey, G-. Culverhouse, B. Cassells, F. K. Choat, and W. Sparrow. Correspondence was read from the Southern Coss Club, requesting permission to transfer two senior players to their junior list, and also to play a junior membsv on Thursday next m their senior team, the sßid player to retain his junior status. —June Ist being the latest date transfers could be effected, permission was refused. Referees were appointed as unders— ! Senior.—Hakaterov. iJakaia, at llakaia, Mr B. Cassels ; Old Roys v. Southern Cross, at I Ashburton, Mr Robilliard; Junior—Bpringburn match, at Springburn, Mr ft. Baird; Methven match, at Methven, Mr C. W. Niooll. Mr Culverhouse (Southern Cross) suggested that m future matches, the referees use better judgment m the election of line umpires. It was deoided to give effect to tho suggestion. Mr A. J. Tycrell-Baxter introduced the question of the establishment of an aocideDfc fund, and it was decided to advertise fchafc a collection would be taken up on the Oval on Thursday next during the progress of the match Old Boys v. Southern Cross, the proceeds to be devoted to that purpose. The Hakatere Club delegate also asked that representatives be appointed to attend
a meeting to be convened during this woek by the Hakatere Club at which representatives of kindred Clubs would bo invited to attend, to arrange for a complimentary conceit to Mr P. Cullen, captain of the Hakatere Club. On the motion of Mr Robillinrd, the Chairman and Mr W. G. Roberts were appointed to represent the Uuion. The meeting then adjourned.
The following will represent Springbnrn m the match against the Old Boys Juniors on Thursday next, at Springburn •—Westbrooke, Brown, Grieves, Moses, D. Fergus, Green (captain), Sulton (2), Burgess, Oliver, Aldridge, Anderson, Fergus, Koilly, and Sbarplin. The following will represent the Old Boys Seniors against Southern Cross m the Domain on Thurday next, at 3 p.m.:—Lunn, Buchanan, Harper. Berryinan, Danaey, Bevell, D. E. Thomas. Lopdell, P. L. Orr, Fechney, Woods, Bnehell, Blunden and Bonifant. Emergencies — Stephens and Hardy. The following will represent Southern Cross Seniors m their match with Old Boyß on Thursday :—J MoFederies, W Pritchard, G Culverhouse, S Culverhouse, A Anderson, W Fitzgerald, S Gudsell, G.
