Murders by Cossacks.
St. Petersburg, June 26 Five prominent citizens yesterday urged General Shustoff, commanding the troops at Lodz, to give them protection against the brutality of Cossacks, who are continuing their ruthless slaughter. An instance was cited where themillionaireßosenblatte's servant, carrying a thousand roubles to the bank, was killed and robbed. Shastoff promised to punish the guilty if testimony was forthcoming. The Cossacks yesterday attacked a family of five Jews proceeding to the railway station m a cab. All were shot dead, and also the driver. Thirty-five of the Government alcohol stores were burned during the riot 3. The social democratb are appropriating money and stamps, 12,000 inhabitants entrained yesterday, fleeing for their lives. The barricades were stormed on Friday only by infantry, because wire entanglements impeded cavalry.
