Match Affainst Warwickshire.
Received June 27, 9.11 a.m. London, June 26 The match against Warwickshire began to-day. The weather was hot, and the wicket good. Gregory, Gehrs, McLeod and Newland were omitted from the Australian team. Byrne won tha toss and with Fishwick opened the county's innings. The first wicket fell at 12, Kelly catching Byrne at the wiokets. Fishwick, when 12, snicked Cotter into the slip 3 where Armstrong took the ball. 2 for 31. Cotter's bowling was kicking a good deal. Layer was bowling at the other end. Quaife, after batting for an hour for 21, was beaten by Noble with, a breakback. 3 for 76. Kinnier was 30 when Baker joined him, and by some fine leg strokes both batsmen steadily increased i the scores. Howell went on, and eventually ! Kinnier, who had been at the wickets 90 minutes, was caught by Kelly off the new bowler. The retiring batsman give a fine display of sound cricket. 4 for 91. Lilley was run out after scoring 13, Cotter, who was bowling, throwing down his wicket. 5 for 117. Following are the scores: — Warwickshire. First Innings.
