An Ashburton farmer has received the following letter from the Director of Lincoln College re the above subject:—»

Dear Sir,—l have yours of yesterday, conveying an application m favour of your son as a candidate for the course of lectures for farmers' sona, proposed to be given here. I am sorry that your application is the first I have received, and I scarcely think it likely that sufficient candidates will come forward for the course to be proceeded with. I will, however, write again definitely next week, as we have extended the date up to which applications can be received. lam somewhat disappointed that farmers have not availed themselves of these proposed courses, as I had hoped to find a largeafctendance coming up.—Yours faithfully, W.
