Auckland, June 13 Robert Campbell, master of th« Auckland ship Quatblaxiba, was fined Jj\O for failing to keep life saving appliances fit and ready for use. The solicitor representing: the Marino Department stated that, it was iutendod t>> rigidly t-n force the life-saving provisions of the 'Shipping and Seamen's Act". In the case of the Qnathlamba two lifeboats v^ere unfit for imniortiate service, four life belts were defective, and there was no signalling apparatus.
