Auckland, June 13 Mafchew Barnetfc, and Peter Grant, bookmakers, were convicted by Mr C. C. Kettle, S.M., at the Police Court yesterday, on two charges of having illegally laid totalisator odds. Mr Reed for the defendants, explained how the proceedings were first set m motion. He said that his clients had reported and given information to the telegraph authorities that telegrams making bets were beinsc sent after races were run. It had been understood by his clients that any information given by them would not be used against them. His clients had then been proceeded against on tibia charge. The matter of inflicting a penalty was deferred,
