State Fire Insurance.

. « . United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph. Auckland, June 12 The manager of the State Fire Insurance Office m Auckland haß notified the City Council that the State Fire Insurance' Office is now m operation, and, being a Government institution, is entitled to the I cordial support of all public bodies. He hoped his office would receive due consideration. The Mayor moved that the letter be received. Cr. John Court moved that the letter be referred to the Finance Committee. He strongly urged that the Council should give the State a share of its insurance. The Mayor said the Finance Committed considered the question last month, and decided to continue to effect insurances with the local companies, there being no reason for an alteration, the companies being a credit to the city, Mr Farrell seconded the Mayor's motion, on the ground that the Government would not take whole risks, and the other companies would refuse to share with them. The Town Clerk said tho insurances expired next September, and the Mayor thought it would be soon enough to consider the matter then. The Mayor's suggestion was adopted.
