Despite the threatening nature of the weather, there was a fairly good attendance at Mr I). Thomas' horse fair to-day, the majority of those present beirg m quest of horses to cope with the extra farm work now m full swing of ploughing and cultivating the ground for grain sowing. The total entry comprised about 120 head of mixed classes of hocsos, including a larger nninber of unbroken sorts than has been usually offered at past fairs. Taking the breeding of the young stock into consideration, the sale showed an improvement both m demand and price, 28 of those offered changing hands at owner's reserves. The broken horses included some really good upstanding farm and harness horses, and anything good and sound, it' not commanding keen competition, sold somewhat better than of late. Aged and inferior horses wore not much inquired after, and prices obtained were m sympathy with the quality.
