Togo personally commanded the first squadron, Kfunimura the second, nnd Kahioka the third. Japan erects by popular subscription a lighthouse as a memorial of the battle. A British steamer towed into Shanghai, badly damaged, a Russian destroyer, with ten persons aboard, r/escued from other disabled vessels. The destroyer drifted six days almost foodless and waterless. Nonoombatants have been ordered to leave Vladivostock.
