DOMAIN COMMITTEE. The Domain Committee reported as follows:— (1). Water Supply for Sports Grounds.— As it is now the proper time for carrying out the work for the water supply for the Domain sports grounds as suggested by the curator, your Committee recommend that the Board expend the sum of £30, which has already been passed for this object, as its share towards the execution of the necessary worke. (2). Assistant m Domain.-—Your Committee recommend that the suggestion as to the assistant m the Domain mude by the curator be adopted, viz., th'«t the present assistant ba dispensed with, and that the man Campbell, recommended by the curator, be engaged regularly at 6s (3d per day, and a boy be also engaged at 10s per week. (S).lLadies' Hockey Club.—An application by the Ladies' Hockey Club for'the use of that piece of ground lying to the N.E. of the lower dam, on which 1o play hockey, has been granted by your Committee subject to the condition, that the permission may be withdrawn at any timo. (4). Your Committee ask the members of the Board to visit the Domain at an early date for the purpose of inspecting the site for the water supply, etc. Some considerable discussion was evoked on clause 2 of the above report, referring to the curator's assistant. The report was eventually adopted, and it was decided on the motion of Mr Ferriman, seconded by Mr Silcock, to give the present curator's assistant three months' holiday m lieu of one sugge?tad m the report, and after that period to give Smitheram the first privilege of casual work m consideration of his past six years' services. It was decided to visit the Domain for inspection purposes at 2.30 on Thursday next. A vote of thanks wns accorded to Mrs Forriman for her donation of plants. The Chairman reported that arrangements had been made to enable the Acclimatisation Society to constant a hatchery m the Domain, nnd m the event of the experiment proving a failure, to permit the Society to remove th 9 same providing no damage was done to the Domain.—-The Chairman's act:oa wns approved.
