The annual meeting of the Ashburton .No-License Council was held iv the Baring Square .Schoolroom yesterday afternoon. Thrt chair was occupied by Mr Wm. Harding. Ih was reported that Mrs Harrison, !>"?''i.'J.: id address meetings m the electorate, the dates beinjj from 27th June to 3rd July, and it waa dasided thai sha spejk at Mayfield, Walcanui, Fairton, Ashbarton, and m the Willowby district;, the exact place to bo left to the Willowby representatives for decision. Several niosnibers were appointed as delegates to the New Zealand Alliance annual meeting, to be held m Wellington on 3rd July. A draft of new constitution and rules was road by the Secretary, and adopted. The Treasurer's bal'icc9-sheßt was presented, and the debit balance ahown therein was expected to be disposed of by proceeds from the monster tea and Mr Isitfc's locfcure that evening. Mr Wm, Harding w.*3 elected President for the ensuing ye.tr, and various other officers and committees appointed. Mr Leadley reported that with reg'iid to the social and recreative proposals concorning which he had been asked to investigate, he was advised that the suggestion was premature. After a question of eligibility for membership had been dealt with, the meeting adjourned.
