Ashburton Sports Association.

A meeting of the delegates of the Ashburton Sports Association was held last evening. Present —Messrs P. H. Cox («hairman), J. Snodgrass, and G. H Buchanan. The Chairman explained that the meeting had been specially convened a week ago for the purpose of adopting the amended rules. On that occasion the attendance was bo small that it was thought advisable to adjourn the meeting, He regretted that the attendance that evening was again small, and he did not know whether the members present had legal power to transact the business before the meeting. Mr Buchanan said tbat the meeting under the rules had legal power, despite the small attendance, to adopt the amended rules received from the Kegistrar. In nny case he would be pleased to get them off his bands. The Chairman and Mr Snodgrass were both of opinion that the members had had full opportunity of being present, and it was decided to proceed with the -business. The rules were read seriatim, the alterations and amendments being fully explained by Mr Buchanan. The chief amendment enables the St. Patrick's Day Sports Association, as a cash, club, to affiliate with Sports Association, which wa9 not the caea with the rules as first supervised by the Government Registrar. On the motion of Mr Snodgrass, seconded by Mr Buchanan, the rules m their amended form were adopted. A letter was read from the Domain, Board requesting that before the public meeting is called to discuss the proposed pavilion m the Domain, a requisition from the ratepayers, requesting that a meeting be called, be presented to the Mayor. It was resolved tbat a sub-committee cousisting of Messrs P. H. Cox, J. Snodgraas and G. H. Buchanan, be appointed to draw up a requisition on the lines indicated and submit same to the ratepayers for signature. The secretary was instructed to have a number, of copies of the adopted rules printed. This being all the business, the meeting adjourned.
