A very exciting trotting match between two local horses for a trophy valued st ,£1 Is and a side wager, waa held on the Chertsey track at a very early hour this morning. The competing horses were Mr W. Lynch's Merry Girl, ridden by owner, and Mr J. Faulkner's Seafiold, ridden by F. Allan. Merry Girl gave Seafield2o seconds start in two miles. The race was very closely contested. Seafiold broke badly coming into the straight and allowed Merry Girl to win by three lengths. Time—Bmins lSsecs.
