Longbeach Road Board.

The usual monthly meeting of the Longbeach Koad Board was held at the Clerk's office this morning. Present—Messrs J. C. N. Grigft" (chairman), J. Bishop, J. Stoddart, James Small and W. T. Lill. The Chairman stated that the balance at the Bank was £172 13s 7d. Correspondence was dealt with as under: From the Asbburton County Council, asking if the Board would assist the Council in collecting small birds' heads.—Keceived. ■It was decided to consent to assist the Council by counting birds' heads brought to the Board's office. , . From E. Low, poundkeeper, compiainiDg re action of Mr Bond in rescuing certain cattle from him as he was driving them to to the pound. —Received. It was decided to write to Mr Bond demanding an apology, and asking him to pay all costs, otherwise legal proceedings wilt be token. From H. Wakelin, asking for repairs to ford on water-race near his property. — Esceived. It was decided to have the necessary repairs effected. From Mr Chas. Eeid, asking that tranaier of lease be confirmed.—Received, and confirmation granted. The Clerk said Mr G. W. Body had informed him that he had ceased to use the gravel pit at Huntingdon. From Mr Davidson, asking permission to erectagateonaroad near his property.— Eeceived. . . , It was decided to grant permission under usual conditions. The Clerk had inspected the roid with Mr Bishop, and they considered that if the road were graded at the sides & great improvement would effected. It was decided to grade the road in accordance with this suggestion. The Clerk reported the reappomtment or Messrs Grigg and Bishop as members of the Board. Mr Stoddart was appointed to open certain tenders for which the Board had called. Accounts amounting to .£59 5s 11 w. ere passed for payment, and the meeting then adjourned.
